You have family members of the right age to have served in World War I, but you don’t know if they did serve or not. You search but there are too many people of the same name in the army, or even the same regiment. We will explore the numerous military records that have survived, rarely complete, and use them to find unique identifiers for the military personnel in your family, whether they died or survived the war. We will then explore what records survive for civilians, before, during and after the war. Finally, we will look at ways to combine these records to make sure we have the correct individuals.
