This case study will begin with an introduction to the Primrose Project, a group of volunteers who are looking to connect girls from the Mountbellew workhouse in Galway, Ireland to the destinations in Canada where they eventually ended up. We’ll then explore the records documenting Ellen Egan, orphan from Galway, and two married Ellens found later living in Ontario, with whom she has been linked. Are they one and the same, or different people? Learn about common research traps and how to avoid getting caught.
