This presentation will explain how to research old family legends through three case studies followed by guided discussion: (1) The hero of the Johnstown flood; (2) The immigrant scoundrel: England to Utah; and (3) “Alan”: adoptee and the unexpected birth family. Participants will consider the evidence, propose next steps, and decide how they would tell each story in light of research discoveries made and sensitivities toward living relatives.
