Family History Research in Western Canada

Presented by Dave Obee

60-Minute Presentation (Intermediate)

Research in Western Canada is not the same as in other parts of the country, as different sources can be used. Some are regional, and others apply to just one province. The four western provinces were settled later than other areas, so research can be easier than in other parts of Canada and will usually lead to other provinces or countries. It is possible to find plenty of information about the people of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. This presentation deals with national sources as well as those specific to the West. Several case studies help explain the value of the sources mentioned.
